Brain dump from the palm. This list compiles quick notes I was taking last year on the direction of my reserach. It is not

well organized but it is the brainstorming and spontaneous journal writing i did from my palm.

What is meaninful to people when they collect & save media? what role does personality play?

How/Why was the ABACUS invented,-and how does it store knowledge

Is dialogue an iterative process ?

What would curriculum and instrutional design become if improvisation were used as a source of design?

Learning ‘begins’ as a narrative but can(should) quickly evolve to include the learner into the activity of play

To approach a diagram as kandinsky would a painting, as a visual narrative with explicit meaning in symbol, form, color etc.

It is important that a learning space be context specific. Initially when a student enters a new realm the space should be

blank, with some affordance to input relevent narratives from the individuals experience. (links, papers, definitions etc.)

As the learning process unfolds the learner MUST interact with the topic/concepts through the space, adding links to

referential material that is obtained on the learning path.

Project Ideas:

? Build a game designer tool. Software that enables user to build their own games. yea right.

? Defense presentation – 4 (or more) screen projection from 4 live webcam clusters, that are ‘on location’ at a meaningful

place. Transitions in the presentation, relocates to a different cluster in another location.
– text floats over-top, can’rotate’ from screen to screen
– maybe a rotating camera that snaps and projects multiple frames

? A tool that would help/guide/enable an individual to present their lives on a visual interface as a combination of a time

line AND a family tree.

– an auto collage maker,
– media/artifact archiver

? Learniverse – Assessment items could be rewards within a “space trader” model learning or knowledge space.
– A basis for the ‘pattern’ of the universe mentioned above, or the design of interaction the model of ‘narrative pattern’.
– how would the interface afford users/authors to add a ‘planet’ to the ‘learniverse’ in a way that it can self-organize.
– the references database – evolves over time, can be shared networked or authored for a discreet course. The metadata would

appear like a tool tip as the learner traverses the galaxy

– current design closer to getting on a bus.

? Constructing learning environments using theory from AI, Virtual Reality – establish a set of rules that define “learning”

and design a system to allow them that experience,

? ID(ea)virus – a knowledge ‘building’objek
– viral based info object that can be passed around and shared in the content space. It aquires input early in the

presentation, then appears later requesting update.

? When listening to your 20 gigs in ‘random mode’ making the next track relative to the current one, based on ‘vibe’.

? Search index – instead of a link, use this object to present an active index based on an initial set of links, metadata and

topic info. Each time the page is loaded an active search is performed and presented.
– This object replaces the need for a student to ‘do a search’ to find out more about a topic
– Also, it will create more opportunities to explore
